Registered Psychotherapist (Qualifying)
Hi there, I’m Dilys (she/her/hers)
BIPOC Therapist, Women’s Mental Health Therapist, Couples Therapist and Family Therapist in Ottawa Ontario
I am so glad you’re here, learning about therapy and how I can help. I understand that taking the first step towards therapy can feel daunting, and I want you to know that you’re not alone. As a collaborative, client-centered therapist, I am committed to meeting you at your own pace and comfort level every step of the way.
My approach is rooted in empathy and respect. I believe in creating a safe and non-judgmental space where you can explore your thoughts and feelings at your own pace. My practice is built on a foundation of compassion, and I work with you to understand your unique experiences and goals.
Whether you’re struggling with overwhelming emotions, facing a major life change, relationship concerns, or just need someone to talk to, I’m here to offer support and guidance. I enjoy walking alongside my clients as they process, and move through and grow through their life’s challenges.
I specialize in working with women who would like to strengthen their self-esteem, communication, or boundary setting. If you would like to show up more fully and authentically for yourself and others, but don’t know where to start, I can help.
I welcome clients seeking support with self-care and reaching for wellness goals, or clients who may be experiencing body image concerns, anxiety, relationship challenges (with peers, family or partners), or difficulty maintaining work-life balance.
If you would like to engage in trauma-work, I can also gently and constructively help you tune into the parts of yourself that may have felt silenced or “stuck” from trauma, whether your trauma stems from relationships, systems of oppression, or other personal experiences. My approach seeks to empower to clients to find and claim their voice, which fosters healing and growth.
I also provide therapy for couples and families to deepen connection and build helpful communication tools.
I am also passionate about serving BIPOC Communities in Ottawa or with virtual therapy throughout Ontario.
I hold a Master’s degree in Counselling, Psychotherapy & Spirituality from Saint Paul University and Ottawa University, and I’ve had the privilege of working in various settings that have enriched my understanding of different perspectives and needs.
My training has equipped me with a range of therapeutic techniques, which I tailor to fit what works best for each client. Some of these approaches include: Emotion Focused Therapy (EFT), Attachment-Based Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), and Internal Family Systems (IFS).
What is most important to me, is that you feel heard, understood and supported in the process of therapy.
I often work from a strengths-based approach, which empowers you to identify your inner strengths and qualities, develop self-compassion and self-awareness as you journey through the complexities of life and relationships.
I credit you for taking the first step in researching a therapist to meet your needs. I encourage you to take the next step, where we can connect for a consultation to meet one another! I’m looking forward to offering you support!
Outside of the therapy office, you can find me jamming to 90’s old school R&B, trying out new recipes I found on YouTube, or in the gym lifting weights, all of which help me to stay grounded and balanced. Apart from my hobbies, I feel my personal experiences have enriched my work and keep me connected to the human side of our connection.
I would love to hear more about you and what fills your cup! I would be happy to explore your sources of resilience and the things that might bring you a sense of balance or joy.
I offer in office, virtual, phone and walk and talk therapy in Ottawa!
